The Albany Fire Department was established 1893 to protect
the Albany area from the ravages of fire. The original 16-member department
battled fires with horse drawn fire apparatus, hand pumps and pails of water.
Although their equipment and methods seem crude in today’s time, the original
members were just as brave and dedicated as modern day fire fighters. This site
is dedicated to all the past and present Albany Fire Department members and to
honor their undaunted devotion to protect life and property.
Over the years and into the 21st Century, the
Albany Fire Department has evolved with updated equipment, better training and
additional personnel. The Albany Fire Department has a full staff of twenty-four
volunteer fire fighters, which protect the City and township of Albany and a
portion of Farming and Krain townships.
Along with fighting fires, the Albany Fire
Department is staffed with trained personnel that respond to medical crises, car
accidents and many other emergencies. All twenty-four members are on call
twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week and are ready to respond at a moments
notice.
